2020 CENSUS KICKS OFF SEP 1

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (July 21, 2020) – The Office of the Local Civil Registrar headed by Ms. Nenita F. Ellivera, MPA, is one in supporting the 2020 Census on Population and Housing dubbed as “Sama Na Census Na”  which will kick-off nationwide on September 1, 2020 and hopefully be completed within 30 days.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority as the head agency of the 2020 CPH, “It is important that the population count be updated as the data generated by the census is critical for the development. Thus all persons residing in the Philippines at the same time shall be counted and no one left behind.”

PSA emphasized that the 2020 Census of Population and Housing is the complete process of collecting, compiling, evaluating, analyzing, publishing and disseminating data about the population and housing of the country. The census covers the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population and the household characteristics and barangay characteristics of the country.

Batas Pambansa # 72, EO # 352 and RA # 10625 mandates the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to conduct the census nationwide. Yet it assures the public that all answers to the CPH are confidential as provided by RA # 10625 and RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
